Melissa Gunawan is a self employed independent family law litigation attorney who shares office space with Brian Don Levy. Her practice encompasses all aspects of family law including paternity, dissolution, post-judgment, domestic partnership and domestic violence matters involving custody, support, property rights, and enforcement of actions. Before entering the Bar in May 2010, Ms. Gunawan has been serving the legal field as a paralegal with law firms in the Los Angeles County since 2004, including the Law Offices of Brian Don Levy (2007-2010). As a result, Ms. Gunawan acquired valuable knowledge and skills in the areas of family law, civil litigation and mediation. Her focus since 2004, however, has consistently been in the area of family law and she has developed extensive experience with complex family law litigation cases.

Ms. Gunawan received her Juris Doctor degree, with Honors, in December 2009 from the University of La Verne, College of law. Her law school career also involved coursework taken at Western State University, College of Law. Her academic honors include Dean's List; Moot Court and Witkins Awards in Family Law, Contracts II, Professional Skills I, and Professional Skills II; a CALI Award in the course associated with the Justice and Immigration Clinic; and Merit Scholarships for each year of law school.

During her law school career, Ms. Gunawan served as a student attorney at the University of La Verne, Justice and Immigration Clinic. Her services at the Clinic enriched her case management experience and developed her skills in writing, research, trial preparation, and oral argument. Ms. Gunawan additionally served as a Law Intern at the San Bernardino District Attorney's Office in 2010, an experience which further strengthened her skills in preparing and answering motions and developed her courtroom exposure.

Ms. Gunawan received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles. She graduated with Honors and as a summa cum laude in 2003. Ms. Gunawan is an attorney with a desire to help families as they transition from one unit to two units while still remaining whole. Ms. Gunawan has an international background and is also bilingual. Gail is our office manager and coordinator. Gail has worked with The Law Office of Brian Don Levy since 1983. Gail started as a legal assistant, became senior paralegal and presently serves as office manager. Gail is familiar with all aspects of family law, mediation and collaborative practice.  Gail has developed extensive family law knowledge, skills, resources and insight into families in crisis and families transitioning. She has prepared thousands of family law forms, and more importantly, she understands the emotional needs of divorcing parties and families. She is highly trained and experienced in assisting and working with family law clients with their varied and unique needs. Kathryn is a Paralegal who re-joined our team in 2005 after a brief departure. Kathryn has been employed at various law offices since 1988, and has extensive experience in family law, civil litigation and corporate law. Kathryn has developed extensive knowledge and skills in numerous areas of law and is highly experienced in assisting, supporting, understanding and working directly with clients relating to their various litigation and paralegal support needs.
